They analyse current systems and create strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer service. Logistics Engineers are often tasked with finding new ways to streamline the supply chain process, reducing waste and improving customer satisfaction. They must have a thorough understanding of logistics principles and be proficient in engineering and data analysis to identify opportunities for improvements. Logistics Engineers must be able to clearly and effectively communicate their ideas and strategies to management.Main missions and resultsLogistics engineers are responsible for the efficient movement and storage of goods and materials from one location to another. They design and implement logistics systems, troubleshoot any problems, and optimize operations. They also analyse data to ensure that operations are running smoothly and cost-effectively.Design and implement logistics systems.Analyse and improve existing logistics systems.Develop and integrate new technologies into logistics systems.Identify cost savings opportunities.Research industry trends and best practices.Perform data analysis to optimize logistics operations.Provide expert advice on logistics issues.Analysing data.Project management.Negotiating with vendors.Developing efficient logistics systems.Update and maintain PFEP.Preferred skills and experienceSignificant experience in supervision within a manufacturing environment, and has detailed knowledge of vendor scheduling, supplier recovery planning, materials planning, supplier recovery and escalation management.Relevant degree level qualification in supply chain management or procurement or comparable education and track record in materials planning or scheduling at a supervisory level.Knowledge of lean logistics and lean production principles in general (e.g., FISS, ideas and principles of Production Systems).Excellent communicator both written and verbal at all levels in English with ability to hold people to account. Is hands-on when required / pragmatic with good attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills and communicator, both written and verbal at all levels in English. Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft packages. Sound understanding of Quality, Business and OEM systems/standards. Self-driven, with an enthusiastic approach and positive attitude able to support and encourage others.Note: this is not an exhaustive list.
