With a number of exciting projects to take place, we are seeking a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor to join on a permanent basis, with head office based out of Altrincham, Greater Manchester. As Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee projects based in the Northwest of the England.Job PurposeTo support the successful delivery of Projects Team business needs by providing a professional quantity surveying service, encompassing one or more of the core areas of procurement and contract management. The service is to be undertaken in accordance with high professional standards and business principles in compliance with regulatory and company procedures and policies.Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:All reasonable duties expected of a Quantity Surveyor assisted and monitored by the Site / Project Manager, including the following:To produce tender quotations for various construction contracts, giving detailed analysis of the works required and how they are to be carried out by our relevant Site ManagerTo produce detailed cost plans for projects based on available designs and assumptionsTo arrange and attend pre-tender site meetings with clients requiring tender quotationsIn conjunction with the Project Manager, to arrange site meetings with subcontractors to obtain quotations for subcontracted worksTo obtain competitive prices from various suppliers for all tender quotations to reduce costs for both ourselves and the clientEstablish and maintain appropriate contract and supplier relationship managementSupport the delivery of contract administration throughout the project lifecycleTo liaise with the Project / Site Manager on all buying functions to ensure that the Company is obtaining the best service and value for money at all timesTo supervise and manage the costs for various construction contractsTo ensure that all works are carried out to the tender requirements and the budget set outTo monitor and record any additional works to the contract via the method of daywork sheets or C.V.I.’s (Confirmation of Verbal Instruction), E.W.N.’s (Early Warning Notices) which are to be signed by and agreed with the client and our Quantity SurveyorTo attend scheduled site meetings with PM, Subcontractors or other interested parties in conjunction with the ProjectTo liaise with the Project / Site Manager on the performance of Subcontractors and SuppliersTo liaise with the client at all times to keep them informed on how work is progressing and what changes to specification maybe required etc. and what the additional costs for this will beTo produce monthly valuations for construction contracts and submit them to HoC for AuthorisationManage post-contract commercial processes and procedures to deliver key commercial requirements on projects. These will include Early Warning and Change Management; Cost Forecasting; Payments; Cost Auditing and agreement of Final AccountsNegotiate and resolve contract claims / disputes and support senior leadership team in the resolution of escalated issuesProactively manage and mitigate commercial and business riskMaintain contract data with a high degree of accuracy to support robust Management Information and ReportingTo undertake necessary training as and when required, in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and Company requirementsEducation, Experience & Training: A Quantity Surveyor should possess basic training suited to their role and leading towards further education and training to a higher standard. Quantity Surveyors should possess the following training / education:Degree qualification relevant to quantity surveying3+ years experience of managing medium to large projectsMinimum 5+ years in the construction industry and clear demonstration of construction knowledgePreferably qualified to ICES or RICS accreditationRelevant Health & Safety Training Certificate (SMSTS or H&S Awareness)CSCS Card for Role and / or other relevant safety training (Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, First aid at work etc)Attention to detail is essentialExcellent communication skills at all levelsAble to influence and manage peopleStrong managerial skillsStrong work ethic and desire to be part of a teamStrong IT skills and ability to embrace new technology and systemsDemonstrable experience in managing commercial aspects of utility and civils related projects or worksPractical approach, logical thought process and a methodical way of workingDemonstrate a creative and innovative approach to problem-solvingExperience in the position or similar roleKnowledge and experience in the use of standard forms of construction contract (preferably including NEC suite of contracts)A Full driving licence
