The Role:As Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take the reins of the mechanical design function, guiding a small team, maintaining design standards and delivering robust, cost-effective mechanical systems for complex industrial products.You will be hands-on, involved in every stage of the product lifecycle whilst ensuring design quality, process efficiency, and technical integrity. Key Responsibilities:Design, develop and optimise mechanical systems and components for high-temperature industrial incineratorsProvide technical leadership and mentorship to design engineersReview and approve designs, ensuring adherence to standards, cost targets and manufacturabilityChampion design for manufacture, material optimisation and cost reduction initiativesPerform mechanical analysis, including FEA and CFD to validate performance and reliabilityStreamline design processes and uphold mechanical design best practicesCollaborate with the electrical design team to ensure full system integrationSupport manufacturing and installation teams, providing practical and technical input throughoutRequirements:Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplineProven experience in mechanical design of industrial machinery or heavy capital equipmentStrong understanding of manufacturing processes including welding, machining and fabricationStrong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, thermodynamics and materialsProficient in CAD tools and engineering analysis software (FEA/CFD)Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on, practical mindsetConfident working cross-functionally and communicating clearly with engineers, fabricators and customersExperience leading or mentoring design teams is highly desirableWhy Join?Competitive package including salary up to £55K + Medicash + Flexible start/finish, 37.5 hour weekTake a lead role in a growing business with global reach and a focus on environmental sustainabilityBe part of a collaborative team where innovation and practical engineering go hand-in-handEnjoy a hands-on role with real responsibility and visible impactShape the future of a high-performance mechanical design functionInterested?
