Responsibilities include preparing patient rooms, escorting patients, taking vitals, assisting physicians, and performing clerical duties to support clinical operations. The role involves working under moderate supervision, handling routine problems, and communicating information that may require explanation or interpretation.Job Overview Under general supervision, this position manages patient flow in an outpatient setting, acting as a patient liaison with clinical and administrative duties. It involves maximizing resource utilization, assisting with patient care, and possibly administering immunizations.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Medical Assistant National Certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA).Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or obtain within three months.0 – Less than 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.Preferred QualificationsTwo years of Medical Assistant experience.Bilingual abilities.Experience with electronic medical records.Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage patient flow and communicate delays.Prepare and verify medical records.Provide excellent customer service.Ensure patient safety and comfort.Assist with physical exams, procedures, and vital signs.Perform specimen collection and point-of-care testing.Assist with diagnostic and surgical arrangements.Support billing and documentation processes.Monitor and manage medical supplies.Participate in quality improvement projects.Provide administrative support, including interpreting services if needed.May administer immunizations and cover satellite locations.Physical RequirementsOccasional lifting, prolonged standing, and other physical activities.Exposure to infectious and hazardous materials.Manual dexterity and sensory acuity for patient care.Skills & AbilitiesOrganizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize.Independent work capability and computer proficiency.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of universal precautions, patient handling, and EPIC system.Ability to provide age-specific care and maintain confidentiality.Tufts Medicine is committed to diversity and inclusion.
