Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesPatient Related EducationAssist in providing patient-specific education on adequacy measures, disease process, and access. TreatmentWelcome patients, evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, administer heparin, and monitor vital signs. Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatment, respond to intradialytic problems, and document all procedures accurately. Monitor patient response, evaluate access, and ensure safety alarms are active. Handle lab specimens, infection control, and participate in transitional care activities. Staff and CommunicationAssist in training staff, follow organizational policies, maintain cleanliness, and ensure effective communication with patients and staff. Record Keeping and Infection ControlMaintain accurate treatment records, participate in CQI activities, and adhere to infection control policies. Physical Demands and ConditionsIncludes lifting, standing, and working in a healthcare environment with exposure to infectious materials.
