We have two furtherhospitals and a recovery home: Montague Court: 18-bed male long termcomplex care mental health inpatient unit, Edgbaston Dartmouth House: 16-bed male long termcomplex care mental health inpatient unit, Handsworth Wood Stanford Court: 19-bed male mentalhealth high dependency inpatient unit based in Highgate. Orchard House: 8-bed residentialstep-down recovery service, Erdington We arelooking for a dynamic OT with a passion for working with people who have severeand enduring mental health diagnoses. The MOHOST is established as the coreoccupational therapy assessment tool, providing evidence of change and focus onoccupation. Additional assessments are completed as led by service-user need. Thesuccessful candidate will be based at Dartmouth House and will be supported by theHead of Therapies. Main duties of the job-To plan and deliver a range of occupational therapyassessments and interventions promoting recovery and well-being forservice-users with severe and enduring mental health needs. -To co-ordinate and lead on provision of the therapeuticprogramme, including running both group and individual sessions. -To work as an integrated member of the multidisciplinaryteam, under the supervision of the Head of Therapies, ensuring the occupationalneeds of the service-users are considered and addressed. - To assist in running the Occupational Therapyteam, providing management supervision to OTAs. -To understand and implement the mission, vision and valuesof the organisation. Experience of MOHOST as an assessment tool. Sound theoretical knowledge of Occupational Therapy and use of evidence-based practice. Awareness of current issues and legislation relevant to mental health. Ability to use assessment as part of the OT process. Able to demonstrate use of OT interventions relevant to inpatient rehabilitation group and individual work. Ability to use reflective practice. Experience of being a practice educator. 18 months experience working in mental health Experience working in a range of mental health settings. SkillsCommunication/Relationship: Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy to all relevant professionals, patients, relatives and carers. Excellent team working skills. Willing to participate in the education of others i.e. nursing and OT students. Planning & Organisational: The ability to prioritise work to meet legal and local deadlines. Ability to work alone and be a committed team member.
