Job Description

Overview: We are looking for a confident and capable MRICS Building Surveyor to join our growing consultancy team based in London. The successful candidate will work across both public and private sector projects, providing high-quality Building Surveying, Project Monitoring, Contract Administration, and the production of Building Safety Cases for higher-risk buildings. You’ll be part of a collaborative team working closely with colleagues in our London and Kent offices, including on high-profile Building Safety Case projects. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced consultancy environment, can take instruction efficiently, and is confident in managing their own workload and prioritising tasks effectively. Key Responsibilities: Building Safety & Surveying Produce compliant Building Safety Cases for higher-risk buildings.Work alongside internal teams and external stakeholders to compile and deliver safety case reports.Undertake detailed building inspections and defect analysis across various sectors including residential, education, and healthcare. Pre-Contract Procedures and PCSA WorkLead and support the scoping and coordination of pre-contract investigations, surveys and due diligence.Work with clients to produce Project Execution Plans and administer pre-construction activity.Tendering under single and 2-stage procurement methods.Engage in the drafting, reviewing and amending of PCSA and JCT contract documentation.Specification Writing & Technical DeliveryPrepare detailed repair and maintenance specifications using NBS.Produce schedules of work and associated documentation under JCT IFC or similar forms.Support the design and technical team in delivering quality documents to support contract delivery. Contract Administration & Project MonitoringAdminister fire remediation and general refurbishment works through to completion.Attend and minute site meetings, carry out regular inspections, and issue instructions, certificates, and notices.Assess valuations and advise clients on cash flow forecasts and contractor applications. Coordinate project teams to ensure effective, timely delivery across multiple stakeholders.Collaboration and CommunicationRepresent the business professionally with clients, contractors, residents, and consultants.Liaise effectively with colleagues in both the London and Kent offices.Support internal mentoring, knowledge sharing, and team development.Skills, Knowledge and Understanding and Learning:MRICS (or equivalent) professional qualification.Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience.Demonstrable knowledge and experience of producing Building Safety Cases.Strong knowledge and understanding of UK Building Regulations, Fire Safety legislation and guidance from the Building Safety Regulator.Experience working under Pre-Construction Services Agreements (PCSA) to deliver fire remediation work.Solid contract administration experience on traditional repairs and maintenance projects.Proficient in producing specifications and schedules of work using NBS, under JCT IFC or similar contracts.Confident in using Quality Management Systems.Excellent communication and report writing skills.Valid UK driving licence and access to your own car for business use.Clients:FreeholdersBuilding ManagersDevelopersHousing AssociationsLocal AuthoritiesPublic Sector Bodies Rewards and Benefits:Competitive salaryDiscretionary bonusPension contributionsPrivate medical insurance28 days holiday (incl.
