Job Title: Senior Cable Design EngineerJob Location: Remote (With occasional travel to Sunbury-on-Thames and Hamburg)Contract Length: 12 Months with the possibility of extensionIndustry: Energy, Inter Array CablesRole Overview:You will be part of the Oceanbeat Inter Array Cable (IAC) package team. You shall:Provide cable engineering to Cable Work Package Manager: support development and execution of IAC packageHave detailed cable design and electrical engineering understanding with keen awareness of the Transport and Installation (T&I) of the IACReview and approve cable engineering documentation from suppliers: review technical documentation from cable suppliers / projects and ensure that technical deliverables meet project and contract requirementsIdentify and mitigate risks on the package: raise relevant risks to the package manager. Support review of project risks, provide mitigations and close out risk actions. Identify and manage technical interfaces between the packages and suppliers: proactively manage interfaces related to the cables packageSupport interface meetings, working with other packages and contractors to bring interfaces into alignmentIdentify and raise Value Opportunities to the package manager. Support review of Value Opportunities, provide actions and deliver on their implementationDevelop and execute third party engineering work scopes: Write, tender and execute third party engineering scopes related to cable deliveryFollow management of change process: identify potential changes on the project, raise them to the package management and rigorously follow the management of change processCollaborate with safety, consent and procurement teams to ensure robust execution of worksCollaborate with associated foundation, WTG, grid / transmission engineering, ground engineering / site investigation and construction disciplines to safely deliver IAC package and the projectEnsure safe and cost-efficient design and integrity management throughout asset life in accordance with bp and industry technical practices and standardsMaintain relationships with third party suppliers, contractors, and other partnersActively contribute to technology development and share knowledge and findingsWhat you will have:Engineering Degree in relevant discipline (civil, mechanical, structural or electrical engineering)Technical experience in electrical and/or cable engineeringExperience in offshore projects developmentDeep understanding of the electrical and mechanical cable designDeep understanding of the cable routing process and ability to assess array cable electrical layouts, ensuring that cost and risk is minimised, between string, loop branch, star and other; given LCoE, turbine availability, site conditions, commercial implications and failure rate of the electrical systemUnderstand the installation methodologies for array cables (their configurations and impacts on the electrical system design)Excellent knowledge of industry codes and standardsProject management expertiseExcellent proficiency in English (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills both oral and writtenAbility to manage time effectively, working with distributed teams and time-zoneProven expertise of working in multi-disciplinary teams and major projects with minimal technical supervisionStrong, proven Stakeholder management, and collaboration.
