Job Description

This role will help to deliver a campaign in the run up to the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.Community led housing (CLH) provides much needed homes and is a pillar of community development, community wealth building and local action on poverty, welfare, the economy and the climate emergency. Communities have delivered homes in rural, island and urban areas, and there is a growing pipeline of projects with the potential for greater impacts in the future. But this pipeline is at risk without renewed and increased political commitment to CLH; the 2026 Scottish Parliament election provides an opportunity to secure that commitment.SOSCH and Communities Housing Trust (CHT) are coordinating a new Community Led Housing Alliance, in collaboration with Community Land Scotland and Development Trusts Association Scotland and with the support of the Nationwide Foundation. The Alliance will enable communities across Scotland to come together and campaign – in the run up to the 2026 election – for change which delivers more community led homes.SOSCH is managing the Alliance’s work programme and seeks to appoint a CLH Alliance Coordinator. Working under the direction of SOSCH’s Partnership & Learning Manager, the Coordinator will be the main point of contact for Alliance Members and Supporters. The post holder will:help to build a broad and diverse Alliance by recruiting local community organisations from across Scotland as Members;lead on developing and delivering an online survey of Members;research and write up case studies highlighting the impacts of CLH, and contribute to other research as required;lead on the planning and delivery of in-person and online meetings with Members, to enable them to contribute to the development of a shared vision for CLH in Scotland and related policy proposals;support the production of a CLH Manifesto and consultation of Alliance Members and Supporters on the Manifesto;assist in the planning and delivery of an in-person CLH Manifesto launch event and a campaign to raise awareness of CLH and promote the Manifesto. For this exciting opportunity, we are seeking applications from people educated to degree level and/or with demonstrable relevant experience in the following areas:establishing and maintaining relationships with partner organisations and/or member networks;designing and delivering research, especially surveys and case study research;planning and delivering engagement events;communicating with a wide range of audiences;developing and implementing communications plans, content and materials. Also desirable are knowledge and experience, in the Scottish context, of community led housing and/or community development and/or policy advocacy. This Full-Time post (starting salary £30k p.a. pro rata, plus employer pension contribution) is for a fixed period of 6 months.
