Job Title: Senior HR AdvisorJob Location: Bristol, Gloucester, Newport, or Weston-Super-Mare areaSalary: £37,793.00 annual salary. Company car, or car allowance of £425 per month. 36 hours per week, with 9 Day Fortnight.Contract Type: Permanent Phoenix Learning and Care operates schools and colleges, as well as care services for children and adults. The People we support are some of the most vulnerable in society, and whom often haven’t had the best start in life.Currently operating across Devon, Somerset, Bristol and South Wales, we have ambitious plans to expand our geographical footprint. We are looking for a new Senior HR Advisor to join our expanding team, ideally living in the Bristol, Gloucester, Newport, or Weston-Super-Mare areas, to support both our existing services in these areas, as well as our new schools, homes and colleges as we expand further North.The role comes with the opportunity to work 9 Day Fortnight and offering the opportunity to work from home a few days per week, but we are looking for someone who wants to fully integrate themselves into our care and education teams, and that’s comes with significant visibility in our services, so being prepared to travel is an important part of the role. Our Support Hub, where our traditional ‘back office’ teams are located is in Tiverton, Devon, so you’ll be expected to be on site there a few times a month for meetings and face to face time with the wider People Services Team. Your base for contractual purposes is open to discussion based upon where you live, and where our services are located.The post holder will be highly self-reliant and able to constructively challenge people throughout our organisation in pursuit of excellent service for the vulnerable people we care for and educate. The work will be challenging, and we have a big to do list, but if you want to be part of something new and have the opportunity to build your career significantly this could be the perfect opportunity for you.The role will be focused on employee relations and operational HR matters, so we are looking for someone with a demonstrable background in high volume and complex ER, preferably within the care or education sector (or other highly regulated sector). In the first few months we need to roll out a new sickness absence policy, so you’ll need to be comfortable training and coaching managers, starting with the basics, and working longer term towards developing highly skilled and competent line managers.As a trauma informed organisation, our plan is to shift our culture for managing and supporting our people to one which aligns with a ‘Just Culture’. What happens in our services can be emotionally challenging, and its important we create a psychologically safe environment based around reflective practice for our Team Members, whilst at the same time not being afraid to tackle serious matters head on and make difficult decision when needed.You will work closely with your colleague who covers the South West area, working collaboratively and sharing best practice. On an interim basis, you will report directly into the People Director and play a role in reviewing how we manage cases, record and track our performance, and evidence ROI for our activity.This is a great opportunity for a self-starting individual keen to make a real impact in a growing business that itself supports & develops vulnerable children and adults.What we are looking for:CIPD qualified Level 5 (ideally)Experience of Human Resources within a Care or Education setting (preferred)Proven experience in working with managers and stakeholders to come up with solutions to people related issues.Excellent knowledge of employee relations and employment law including supporting with formal investigations, hearings and appealsAnalytical and problem solving skills.Strong IT skillsSomeone who enjoys working with people, is a team player and is willing to get involved in a broad spectrum of tasks.
