Associate Town PlannerLocation: York (2 days/week minimum, flexible hybrid working) Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + Bonus Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Sector: Renewable Energy, Residential, Commercial PlanningAbout the OpportunityFutureGen Recruitment is proud to partner with a dynamic and forward-thinking town planning consultancy supporting a growing development company, primarily in the renewable energy sector. In addition to clean energy projects, their portfolio spans residential and commercial town planning—offering a stimulating mix of high-impact, technically rewarding work.We are now seeking an Associate Planner to join this collaborative and flexible team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone ready to take ownership of planning applications, drive projects forward, and play a central role in the successful delivery of planning consents. You don't need experience specifically within renewable energy to apply for this role but you must be a competent town planner with significant experience with planning applications.The RoleThis is a delivery-focused planning role, where your primary responsibility will be managing and progressing a varied caseload of planning applications. Rather than business development, your day-to-day will centre on technical planning, project leadership, and client engagement.Key responsibilities include:Leading and managing planning applications across renewable, residential, and commercial sectorsPreparing, submitting, and negotiating planning consentsCoordinating inputs from internal and external consultantsEngaging with local planning authorities and key stakeholdersProviding trusted, professional advice to clients and project teamsEnsuring timely, high-quality delivery across all stages of the planning processWhat We’re Looking ForMRTPI-qualified or working towards full membershipProven experience in UK town planning (consultancy or public sector)Strong understanding of planning policy and application strategyConfident communicator and capable project managerProactive, organised, and comfortable working independentlyWillingness to be based in York a minimum of two days per weekWhy Join?Flexible Working: No core hours.
