All profits fund our onsite hospice, St Johns. Job descriptionJob responsibilitiesAssist in planning patient care and delivering excellent care services. Support the operational management of the department, assisting shift leaders and the Ward Manager. Support the management and development of nursing care and service delivery as assigned by the Ward Manager. Provide support to the Ward Manager, Deputy Ward Manager, and shift leaders. Undertake link nurse roles for designated clinical responsibilities, attend meetings, and complete associated actions. Ensure a welcoming, caring, and safe environment for patients and families. Maintain cleanliness and safety in patient rooms, ward hallways, storerooms, and nurses' stations. Participate in the management of supplies and consumables. Be flexible with working patterns, including weekends, as needed. Adapt to working in different departments during closures or as required. Escort patients to other departments and hospitals as needed. Complete nursing documentation according to hospital policies and protocols. Perform safety checks on the ward regularly. Assist consultants and nurses with procedures and interventions. Take measurements, collect samples, and record findings accurately, reporting abnormalities. Support patient admissions, investigations, procedures, and discharges, including referrals. Adhere to manual handling policies. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Follow hospital policies, procedures, and professional standards. Comply with infection control policies to maintain low infection rates. Complete mandatory training and obtain necessary competencies. Be aware of hospital incidents and complaints, and participate in shared learning to prevent reoccurrence.
