Job Location – Crawley – West Sussex – UK Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilledUnit Test Engineerwith a focus onPrinted Circuit Board (PCB) repair . The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, diagnosing, and repairing faults in electronic PCBs at the component and board level using a range of test tools, equipment and documentation. This role is critical to maintaining high product quality, minimizing turnaround time (TAT), and supporting continuous improvement in the repair processes. About You You will need to be self-driven and have attention to detail to succeed in undertaking: Testing & repairing on electronic assemblies and PCBs Troubleshoot and diagnose failed units down to the component level using technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and documentation, typically using oscilloscopes, multi meters, and other diagnostic tools. Carry out precision rework and repairs of surface-mount and through-hole components to acceptable standards. Write, create, and verify Product Test documents and test procedures. Maintain accurate documentation of test results, failure modes, and repair actions in databases and Customer facing reports. Support root cause analysis and contribute to corrective action implementation. Collaborate with test engineers and design teams to resolve recurring or systemic failures. Maintaining plans / schedules and reporting progress on Customer repairs Maintaining stock levels of frequently used components for repairs Performing updates to inventory, mainly PCB’s, typically used in the manufacturing of Full Flight Simulators. Calibrate and maintain test stations, jigs, and diagnostic equipment as needed. Follow industry standards and company procedures for ESD protection, safety, and quality. Working in accordance with departmental procedures / Acron Aviation standards Knowledge, Skills And Qualifications Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics. Soldering techniques for component assembly including surface mount components. Assembly and repair of electrical assemblies including computers. Cable making in support of development and production. Wire wrap testing and wire wrap Will have demonstrated a high degree of technical expertise, problem solving skills. Demonstrated the ability to plan and manage work. Experience in formal testing, and verification & validation. Ability to work under pressure to resolve problems as they arise. Ability to always communicate effectively with peers and supervisors. Team player, flexible working, open minded, proactive in moving the company forward. Required Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline. 2+ years of hands-on experience in PCB testing and repair, preferably in a manufacturing or high-reliability environment. Strong proficiency with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, etc.). Solid understanding of analog and digital circuits, including signal tracing and fault isolation. Experience reading and interpreting schematics, layouts, and test documentation. Intermediate IT skills in Microsoft Office packages Would Consider In Terms Of Qualifications Served an apprenticeship in Electrical engineering preferably with PCB experience, with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a suitable manufacturing industry Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technologies or equivalent demonstrable experience in a test environment preferably within Defence/Aerospace/Engineering Preferred Attributes Familiarity with automated test systems (ATE) and test software interfaces. Strong attention to detail and methodical problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
