5 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants The existing Board of Trustees are looking for a Treasurer who wants to join them in developing and supporting the work of Horses and Ponies Protection Association (Registered Charity 1085211). The successful applicant will be able to work alongside the existing Treasurer to enable a full and proficient handover. *Please note this is a voluntary role on the Board of Trustees hence there will be no remuneration for the post holder* As a Treasurer, you will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the Finance Manager in all financial matters on behalf of HAPPA including an investment portfolio. Alongside your fellow Trustees, you will also be responsible for the overall governance, administration and strategic direction, developing aims, objectives and goals in accordance with organisation and legal guidelines. Key Responsibilities: To oversee, approve and present all yearly budgets, quarterly and annual accounts and other relevant statements. Review regular reports on the organisation's financial position. Ensure the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements with regards to financial matters. Maintain sound financial management of the charity's resources. To provide guidance using previous experience and expertise on a range of aspects of HAPPA's financial business, including support to set up new initiatives. To monitor the financial strategic focus and performance of the charity. Skills and experience: It is essential that the Treasurer is practicing or is retired from a senior finance position (i.e., Accountant, Finance Manager, Finance Director) and holds an AAT qualification. Commitment: The Treasurer will be required to attend the Annual General Meeting and at least three Board Meetings per year, held on a Tuesday morning at HAPPA HQ in Briercliffe, Burnley, Lancashire BB10 3QU (lunch is provided). Occasionally, the Treasurer may need to attend charity gatherings and liaise with the onsite Finance Manager.
