Its flagship venture, Local Loop Merseyside, will be a member-owned business-to-business “clearing club” that uses a graph algorithm to clear invoices, freeing up cash flow and boosting the Liverpool City Region’s economic resilience.By joining MCS you’ll help prove a new model of collaborative, community-owned financial infrastructure that can be replicated in other cities worldwide.The RoleYou’ll own the end-to-end technical delivery of our MVP as we build to launch, acting as the ‘glue’ connecting the driven Product-founder team and Business Analyst to our excellent Technical Team Lead and engineering team, reporting to the Programme Manager.Delivery & ScrumRun sprint planning, backlog grooming and retros in GitHub ProjectsForecast capacity and remove blockers so the dev team can hit sprint goalsArchitecture & DesignTranslate detailed Business Requirements into scalable solution designs, architecture diagrams, and actionable ticketsMaintain high-level and detailed architecture documents covering apps, data, and infrastructure (AWS, Supabase, Next.js, Postgres)Define and evangelise coding and design standards; review pull-requests with a security-by-design mindsetQuality & Security AssuranceOwn post-merge QA: automated test pipelines, manual exploratory testing, performance baselinesImplement penetration testing (OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, Metasploit). You thrive in startup-style teams, bring clarity to complexity, and are motivated by purpose as much as performance.Required:5+ years in Solution/Technical Architect roles delivering web or mobile productsExperience as a Scrum Master or Technical Project ManagerStrong expertise in GitHub, CI/CD, secure coding practices, and system designSkilled in translating technical detail for non-technical stakeholdersProficient in diagramming tools (e.g., C4 models) and user story creationDesirable:AWS Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or CISSP certificationExperience in fintech, mutual credit, or community financeKnowledge of Supabase or invoice-clearing algorithmsFamiliarity with business continuity and disaster recovery planningResiding in or near Merseyside (preferred but not essential)Are you ready to help reinvent financial systems for people and communities?
