To continue to do this we need strong diverse thinking and having people from a range of backgrounds, careers, and expertise help us do this.Job Purpose:The purpose of this role is to oversee the efficient delivery of major projects (defined as Extra High Voltage which is up to 132kV) through our pipeline process, from concept through to adoption. This will be done through maintaining visibility of the project programmes, managing, and liaising with the Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) and Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contractors (ECPs) constructing the Extra High Voltage distribution networks to connect customers to our network.The role requires effective communication skills to work with ICPs, ECPs, Customers, Developers, Suppliers and Network Operators (DNO/TO) (“Clients”) to enable successful completion and handover to the asset management team. The role will proactively liaise with clients to meet the Company’s goal of achieving the customer’s energisation date.To enable effective delivery of this role, understanding and effective utilisation of our internal Investment Process (“Stage & Gate”) and project management tool, are key. This team is pivotal in supporting the whole organisation to understand where major projects are in the process and keeping clients updated on the next steps required. This role will also be responsible for liaising internally to ensure the Stage Gates are met and responsible parties (e.g. Designers, Auditors, Finance, Legal, Operations) have completed their review processes across each EHV project.You will collectively be responsible for undertaking a range of Project, Contract and Programme Management processes and activities to enable successful completion and handover of the project to the Asset Management Team. Main responsibilities will include:Support the EPOP Director and Major Projects Team in the management of the Stage Owner and Gate Keeper process (“Investment Process”).Take ownership and manage delivery of the EHV projects Programme of Works, providing periodic updates and reporting.Maintain extensive knowledge of current industry technical policy and standards.For all EHV projects, be the Technical Lead and project / contract manage those undertaking connection activities in line with the Investment process and Customer Energisation DatesLiaise with clients regularly and update clients with project progress, undertake portfolio reviews, project kick off meetings and regular risk review sessions.Liaise with the Delivery teams (such as Land Rights, Street Works, Assurance, Audits)to ensure project specific work packages are progressed and completed ahead of Energisation.Manage and maintain accurate project information on (such as project forecast dates, programme of works, project briefs etc.)Manage the completion certificate processes and coordinate with Asset Operations team on queries that could impact future site operation & maintenance activities. In addition, prior to Asset Energisation, complete documentation to obtain ‘Approval To Energise’ and post energisation, agree a ‘Transfer of Network Operation and Control’ to the Company.Undertake a Post Project Lessons Learned review looking for any process efficienciesLiaise with various departments within the business to ensure smooth, efficient operations.Ensure internal KPIs, SLAs and timelines are met within the project lifecycle.Knowledge and Skills Requirements Ideally, you will have good knowledge and experience of the utilities industry, and be skilled in delivering successful projects/programmes, pro-actively natured, customer focused, and passionate about the role and business.Essential:Engineering or Project Management (APM) qualification (Level 4 minimum).Experience (ideally min 5 years) in managing or guiding teams to Construct, Commission, Energise and Operate electrical Networks with a good understanding of Project Management and Asset Management systems.Excellent level of understanding for construction and commissioning of distribution network connections, including substations and cable networks.Flexible, adaptable, and highly motivated in all areas of projects and operations.Proactive, customer-focused attitude with a passion for the industry and business.Effective in oral and written communications to both internally and externally to interface with suppliers, customers, clients and addressing enquiries from the general public.Computer literate with Microsoft Office packages and learn other internal IT based systems.Ability to prioritise work activity to deliver business requirements with an attention to detailWork flexibly either under supervision or on your own initiative as required.Strong relationship building and influencing skills.We welcome applications from individuals who meet most, but not necessarily all, of the listed requirements.
