3986 - SeniorSpeech & Language Therapist Acute & OPD ServiceAnexciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Senior Speech and LanguageTherapist to join the adult acute inpatient team at Barnsley Hospital NHSFoundation Trust (BHNFT) for a 12 months fixed term contract/secondment opportunity. This is anexcellent opportunity for an SLT who is experienced, ready for the next step intheir professional career and/or wishing to make a change. Thesuccessful candidate will work independently and with supervisory supportalongside a friendly, open and supportive team. The successful candidate willprovide assessment, treatment and intervention to patients with swallowingand/or communication difficulties. Theposition will cover the acute inpatient wards at Barnsley Hospital, includingmedical wards, surgical wards, and ICU. This allows the successful candidate towork with a variety of clinical presentations in an inpatient environmentincluding, but not limited to, Respiratory, Care of the Elderly, Tracheostomyand Critical care, ENT, Head and Neck Cancer and Neurology. Main duties of the jobTo provide high quality,person-centred assessment and management of complex swallowing andcommunication difficulties, that is in line with the latest evidence base. To demonstrate excellent organisationaland team working skills, as well asworking within multidisciplinary teams. To demonstrate excellent communicationand interpersonal skills when working with patients, families and within thewider multi-disciplinary team. To contribute to developingand/or delivering specialised training packages to a variety of recipients withrespect of adults with swallowing or communication difficulties, including toother professional groups. To support and supervisejunior members of the SLT team in their development of knowledge and skills inrelation to speech and language therapy. To followdepartmental policies/guidelines and to support the development of innovationsin service delivery, taking account of clinical governance. QualificationsDegree in speech and language pathology or therapy or equivalent Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist Certificate to Practice Registration with Health Professions Council Current member of RCSLT Knowledge and AwarenessProven post graduate SLT experience providing assessment, diagnosis and management to adults with swallowing and communication disorders Proven awareness and experience of the requirement for excellence in clinical record keeping Experience in working autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team Experience in working in a Multidisciplinary team Previous experience working on acute wards Previous experience working with adults who have had a stroke Previous experience coordinating the work of others Previous experience with head and neck cancer and voice patients Skills and AbilitiesProven verbal and interpersonal skills which are able to adapt to the communication situation Ability to use initiative ExperienceProven post graduate accredited (or equivalent) dysphagia training and experience Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
