We seek Residential Support Workers to join our team and provide individualized care to children and young people with learning disabilities. The job involves promoting independence, creating a safe and inclusive environment, and understanding the unique needs of each young person to provide tailored support and help them thrive. Duties and Responsibilities:Support young people in their day-to-day life with routines such as (hygiene, independence skills, cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, budgeting, and empowering them to make choices). Prepare meals, ensuring dietary restrictions and preferences are followed. Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as tidying up living areas, laundry, and washing dishes. To assist and encourage young people to participate in activities promoting their development. To create a structured and supportive environment, use visual aids, and implement strategies like visual schedules and social stories to promote communication and development. To report back to seniors and management, follow their lead, work as a team player, and use initiative. Promote well-being in the home by ensuring the environment is nurturing and safe. Act as a key worker for young people, supporting their needs and planning and implementing activities to help their development. Help young people resolve conflicts and manage their behaviour safely. Support young people in reducing behaviours that put them at risk of harm. To build positive relationships, follow and implement positive behaviour strategies aligned with plans. Ensure the home’s records are completed to a high standard, electronically and by hand. Collaborative work with other professionals such as social workers, health professionals, and teachers. Good ICT skills, including using Microsoft Office, Excel, and the Internet. Complete handwritten and typed paperwork. Ensure files and paperwork are kept in order and up to date. Attend shifts as required and participate in the on-call and the sleep-in rota. Undertake training as the organisation requires and take responsibility for continuing professional development. Attend and contribute to regular supervision meetings and annual appraisals. Adhere to ALL workplace policies, including safeguarding and child protection. Sound knowledge and understanding of the regulatory body and underpinning legislation for working with children and young people. Complete other assigned duties.
