Within NHS England, South East Region, the Wessex Local Office is responsible for the planning, development, education, and training of the healthcare and public health workforce across Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, and Salisbury.An opportunity has arisen for a Consultant with a strong interest in medical education and training to be the Training Programme Director in Renal.Applications are invited from current STC members or those within the specialty who can demonstrate relevant interest in education and training.The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall delivery of the Renal training programme. The role involves working with the Head of School to lead various functions aligned with NHS England mandates.Main duties of the jobThe Training Programme Director will focus on improving learner supervision, assessment, experience, and engagement of faculty, ensuring effective educational outcomes. You may inform us if you do not consent to this transfer at any point during the process.Job responsibilitiesThe role includes a fixed funding contribution of £10,000 annually as an Educational Management Contribution (EMC), with 0.25 EMC allocated for this position. The EMCs roughly correspond to PAs for job planning but are a fixed amount and may not match your personal salary or planned activities.NHSE is expected to cease as a separate entity by 31/10/2026 following the merger into DHSC. Extensions and new appointments are only guaranteed until that date. Future arrangements will be communicated as the new structure is clarified.Applicants should discuss this role with their local Director of Medical Education to ensure it functions as a secondment with time allocated in your job plan.
