They will facilitate the set-up, coordination and management of clinical research studies in a broad range of studies across several different departments.S/he will be involved in many clinical research duties including the recruitment and consenting of patients. The post holder will facilitate the care of patients being treated within these trials as required, including the monitoring and observation of patients. They will be involved in the recruitment process and keep accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from research studies.The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken within the department safeguards the wellbeing of the participants and is conducted within the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research (Health Research Authority 2018), according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations (2004) and other guidance and legislation as required for that study.The role involves using an in-depth knowledge of clinical research and of trial protocols and their application in practice, research methodology and in-depth working knowledge of the requirements of local, national and international research regulations.Provide clinical and non-clinical support and expertise to NIHR portfolio research projects. Facilitation of concurrent research studies. Undertake mandatory training as required by Trust policies.
