EMT should have knowledge of treatment and stabilization of all patients as well as all definitive techniques within the limitations of their certification as governed by the Georgia Department of Public health. This position will care for patients in the neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with the State of Georgia EMT Scope of Practice guidelines and procedures.Minimum Job QualificationsLicensure or other certifications: State license as EMT-I, or AEMT Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Minimum Experience: Other: As approved by State of Georgia Department of Public Health to include approved Defensive Driving course and Basic Life Support (BLS)Preferred Job QualificationsPreferred Licensure or other certifications: Preferred Educational Requirements: Preferred Experience: Other:Job Specific And Unique Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of State of Georgia Department of Public Health Protocols and Scope of Practice for licensed EMTs Is knowledgeable of all laws pertaining to emergency vehicle operation Maintains good physical fitness Maintains all certifications required by the State of Georgia Office of EMSEssential Tasks And ResponsibilitiesMaintains up-to-date knowledge of all aspects of emergency medicine relative to pre-hospital and inter facility treatment of all sick and injured patients and ensures that care is consistently delivered to every patient. Ensures that emergency vehicle is clean and decontaminated at all times and that vehicle is fueled and fully stocked. Maintains all equipment on ambulance and is accounted for at all times and that any equipment left at the hospital is eventually retrieved. Pursues continuing education offered by NGHS and others for personal accountability for medic licensure. Uses sound judgment in resolving problems by following the chain of command and that discretion is observed in regards to the public. Properly dresses in appropriate uniform attire according to NGHS and Medical Transport policies and procedures. Uses mobile communication according to departmental rules and procedures.
