Main duties of the jobThe Community Staff Nurse is responsiblefor delivering the Healthy Child Programme (HCP), supporting the health anddevelopmental needs of children, young people, and families within thecommunity. Under the direction of the Specialist Public Health Nurse, this roleencompasses assessments, targeted interventions, emotional well-being support,and multi-agency collaboration as part of the Family Hub agenda. The CommunityStaff Nurse will actively participate in health promotion activities,developmental screenings, and early interventions to enhance public healthoutcomes across the 0-19 age range. Person SpecificationExperienceExperience in or gained through clinical placements, in community health, public health, or similar settings. Exposure to working with children, young people, and families would be beneficial. Basic understanding of health and developmental assessments (e.g., ASQ) for identifying physical, emotional, and developmental needs, with willingness to learn and apply these in practice under supervision. Foundational knowledge of safeguarding principles and an understanding of how to identify and report concerns. Awareness of the importance of working with multi-agency teams to ensure child and family safety. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team, including clear communication with colleagues, children, and families. Willingness to learn to communicate complex or sensitive information effectively. Awareness of the importance of accurate documentation and an understanding of professional standards Basic skills in maintaining records, with an openness to learning electronic patient record systems. Ability to handle emotionally challenging situations observed or encountered during placements, with a commitment to developing resilience in managing sensitive cases. Willingness to engage in reflective practice and professional development. Openness to feedback and ongoing learning to build on foundational nursing skills in a community setting. Experience working with Children, Young People and families QualificationsRegistered Nurse (RN) with active registration from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in one of the following Registered Nurse Adult (RN-Adult), Registered Nurse Child (RN-Child), Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities (RN-LD), Registered Nurse Mental Health (RN-MH) Degree in Nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent) from an accredited institution. Proficiency in using basic Microsoft Office, email (Outlook), and electronic health records for data entry and record management. I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer. Evidence of continued professional development KnowledgeKnowledge of Public Health Developments / agenda. Knowledge of current NHS priorities in relation to Children young people and families.
