Job OverviewWe would like to recruit a full time Medical Laboratory Assistant within the Pathology Specimen Reception team, based at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.The role of a Medical Laboratory Assistant is varied and involves supporting the scientific staff (Biomedical Scientists) in the receipt, data entry and pre-analytic preparation of patient samples, maintaining stocks of consumable items, disposal of chemical and/ or biological waste, and maintaining and decontamination of complex laboratory equipment and as such is a key role in supporting a diagnostic service.The successful candidate will be required to work at the Community Diagnostic Hub at Hollinswood House one day per week. The community diagnostic hub is a new initiative to provide a “one stop shop” for rapid diagnosis. The hub includes phlebotomy, imaging, ECG, ultrasound scans and dialysis unit.We are seeking a self-motivated individuals who have a methodical approach with good attention to detail and who can remain calm in stressful situations.Please note that this advert will close early if there is a high level of interest.
