We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Finance Manager to join our Financial Reporting team on a 12 month fixed term contract basis. This team sits at the heart of Nationwide’s internal and external reporting function and is accountable for delivering a consistently high standard and quality statutory and regulatory reporting. The team ensures all reporting is compliant with regulations, accounting standards and best practice, developing accounting policies and providing specialist technical accounting advice on a range of issues, as well as managing the relationship with the external auditors. The team is also responsible for technical accounting, IFRS 9 reporting and Treasury Finance. Our team comprises individuals with a wide range of experiences who are building processes and capability to meet current and future requirements. As a Senior Finance Manager in the team, you will be accountable for setting a compelling vision and direction, developing solutions, and delivering high-quality reporting, as well as promoting an efficiency and controls mindset. You will lead a team that works collaboratively across the whole of Finance and with the wider business to develop what we do and ensure both processes and outputs reflect best practice. You will need to manage and influence a wide variety of stakeholders across the Society as you embed new reporting requirements and enhance the current processes in place. What you’ll be doingYou will be demonstrating your strong leadership skills as you coordinate and lead in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders and priorities. You will be speaking to colleagues regularly to ensure that they can deliver information to you in a controlled and timely manner. You will be excellent at managing stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds, both internally and externally at all levels of the organisation. You will be skilled at generating a culture of collaboration across numerous pieces of work and managing conflicting accountabilities. You’ll work closely with your peers and senior leaders within the Financial Reporting team, and be expected to express your opinions in a clear and professional manner. You have an important role to make sure that the requirements of the Reporting team are understood and can clearly articulate the vision of the future to everyone. The work will be varied and could cover the following: Managing and developing processes for the efficient delivery of Nationwide’s group and subsidiary financial reporting, ensuring these are in line with internal and external requirements and timelines. Implementing and managing control and governance processes to ensure high-quality reporting that is appropriately reviewed and approved. Identifying, evaluating and driving forward opportunities for improvements to key processes to deliver meaningful quality and efficiency benefits, prioritising resource to optimise benefits delivered. Leading, developing and motivating a team of finance professionals to create a high performing team. Demonstrating your agility and decision making when assessing and implementing changing reporting requirements and ensuring appropriate solutions to support evolving business activities. Contributing to wider departmental management and leadership activities and initiatives. Supporting technical accounting and reporting developments. Collaborating with the internal team and external auditors to support successful half year and full year reporting. About youAt a minimum you will: Be a qualified accountant Have a strong background in financial reporting under IFRS, with experience in audit practice or in a large, corporate environment, preferably within financial services. Have a focus on delivery and demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles and challenges in delivering on commitments. Demonstrate excellent team leadership and organisational skills to manage multiple activities, including the delivery of a high volume of reporting to strict reporting timelines. Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand and manage complex accounting and reporting activities. Possess a drive for delivering high-quality outputs and an ability to maintain oversight of team outputs and establish appropriate review processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all deliverables. Demonstrate highly effective stakeholder management skills, across all levels, within and outside of the organisation, and the ability to collaborate and drive activities across the wider business. Evidence clear and effective communication and influencing skills Have strong team leadership and coaching skills to motivate and develop the team and its skills.
