An opportunity has arisen for a talented and experienced Materials Manager to join our team in Timaru to lead our ongoing focus on best practices in inventory purchasing, management, and control. The ideal candidate will: Have experience in a purchasing/inventory control role, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment. Have proven experience in negotiating with and managing key supplier relationships. Be experienced in dealing with overseas suppliers and managing international freight logistics. Demonstrate an ability to work closely with the production team to ensure timely delivery and availability of materials for production. Be leading a small inventory logistics team. Have a high level of Microsoft Word and Excel skills. Previous experience with manufacturing/production (ERP) systems would be an advantage. Continuously develop and refine process improvement initiatives. This is a busy, challenging role that will suit a person demonstrating the following characteristics: Good organisational and communication skills. An ability to multitask and prioritise work requirements to meet deadlines. Be adaptable and self-motivated with the ability to think on your feet. Be tidy and accurate in your work, with good numerical skills and attention to detail. Proven ability to build good work relationships with suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
