Job overviewThe maternity unit provides urgent and emergency care to pregnant from 18 weeks gestation and post natal women up to 28 days following delivery. The care is delivered by midwives, obstetricians and neonatologists. They operate on a 24hr seven-day a week basis. However, you will be part of our Fetal Medicine unit – a specialised department that offers women and their families support through pregnancy and antenatal screening when a congenital or genetic condition might be suspected or diagnosed. The Fetal medicine team also provide specialist scanning and support for women with complex pregnancies such as with twins or triplets. Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be rostered to work in the Fetal Medicine Unit at Newham University Hospital, alongside the current lead midwife and providing interim support. The role includes providing specialised support to all women in FMU as well as supporting staff within the team. You must be able to provide comprehensive midwifery care and the highest standard of holistic patient care, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary and external teams.
