Base pay rangeThe Role We are seeking a Grants Manager to join the V&A’s successful Development Department. Reporting to the Senior Grants Manager, the Grants Manager will have experience of working with trusts and foundations, preferably in a museum or arts environment; researching and identifying new funding opportunities; and excellent written and oral communication skills. You will help to maximise income from grant-giving bodies by working closely with the Head of Grants and Senior Grants Manager to research, cultivate and assist with successful grant applications to charitable trusts, foundations and public-sector bodies. You will manage your own portfolio of small-medium trusts and foundations, take responsibility for ensuring records are accurate, and support the overall administration of the Grants team as necessary. Importantly, you will develop close working relationships with colleagues in Development and across the V&A to ensure the success of the Grants team. Key Responsibilities: 1. Work closely with the Senior Grants Manager and Head of Grants on the coordination, writing and production of applications and reports to trusts, foundations and public sector grant-making bodies. 2. Manage own portfolio of small-medium sized trusts and foundations for specific areas of museum activity. 3. Ensure effective information-gathering for the production of applications and reports, by collaborating with colleagues within Development and across the museum. 4. Working both independently and with the Department’s dedicated Research Team, pro-actively identify and research grant-making prospects for all fundraising priorities. 5. Coordinate in-person and remote cultivation and stewardship opportunities including on-site meetings and tours, phone calls and virtual meetings and working at Development events. 6. Be responsible for a system of year-round communication with trusts, foundations and grant-giving bodies in order to maintain the generosity and commitment of existing donors and encourage new support. 7. Contribute to the team’s administration, including accurate and thorough record keeping and ensuring that office systems (including the team’s use of the database Microsoft Dynamics CRM) are efficient and effective. 8. Keep up to date with development and trends in the arts and fundraising sectors to inform strategic priorities and grow prospect pipelines. 9. Work within Departmental guidelines on computer security, record-keeping and data protection (GDPR) What we are looking for: 1. Demonstrable experience working with a wide range of trusts, foundations and public-sector organisations and able to provide examples of securing four to five figure grants. 2. Knowledge and experience of research resources and techniques relevant to fundraising. 3. Experience in stewarding and cultivating trusts and foundations including coordinating progress reports, organising virtual and face-to-face meetings and tours, sending event invites, and maintaining regular communication on key organisational activity and milestones. 4. Experience of using a fundraising database. 5. Excellent interpersonal skills and a flexible team player, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with colleagues in and outside of the Development Department. 6. High levels of motivation with the capacity for hard work within a goal-oriented environment. 7. Excellent written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail. Ability to work to the highest standards, to be methodical and thorough and summarise and articulate key information in a fluid and eloquent way. 8. Good diplomatic and oral communication skills across a wide social and professional spectrum with the ability to adapt your communication style for different groups. 9. The ability to use MS Office and other relevant IT systems as appropriate for the role. 10.Excellent organisational skills with experience of managing and prioritising a high workload and multiple tasks in a changing environment against competing deadlines. 11. Interest in museums, culture and the arts. 12.Experience of working in a museum or cultural institution.
