We are looking for an exceptional and committed nurse who possesses the necessary clinical skills and expertise to deliver a high standard of care to our Spinal Cord Injured patients (traumatic and non-traumatic). The successful candidate will be fully supported by the Major Trauma Clinical Practitioner team, the Major Trauma Clinical Manager, Major Trauma Clinical Leads and the Spinal teams. Main duties of the jobWorking alongside nurses, AHPs and doctors from specialties from across the Trust, the post holder will be responsible for the assessment of SCI patients, the formulation of effective care plans, providing training and guidance to clinical teams, and the support of patients and their families throughout their pathway. This is a demanding but very rewarding role, and the ideal candidate will have currentnursingexperience in spinal cord injury and will have the ability to function autonomously and decisively. Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesTo work as an autonomous SCI Specialist Nurse. To deliver a range of clinical and core nursing skills and interventions to meet the physiological and psychosocial needs of SCI patients. To provide expert advice related to spinal cord injury and related treatment pathways. Focus on improving patient care and service development. To assess patients holistically, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based care. To provide specialist advice to patient families and carers and the wider multidisciplinary team. To contribute to the development of the workforce through developing and delivering education and training. To support service development and the ongoing development of the spinal cord injury pathway. To participate in research activity and clinical audits in own specialist area. To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure the cohesive management of patients. To act as a key worker for SCI patients as appropriate across the patient’s pathway. Person specificationQualifications and EducationCurrent NMC registration Post registration qualifications/training relevant to the role Evidence of study at Msc Degree Successful completion of a leadership and development programme equivalent to the Band 6 Leadership and Development programme Level 4 ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) or equivalent Knowledge and ExperienceSCI nursing experience at a senior level (Band 6 or above) Able to perform clinical duties commensurate to the role Ability to implement changes within nursing practice Knowledge of Clinical Governance and Safeguarding and the relevance of these to practice Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures Knowledge of ethical issues Evidence of clinical competence in area of speciality Knowledge of local/national Health and Social Care policy Knowledge and experience of research Experience of managing a clinical case load/ward Experience in developing guidelines or protocols Experience of training and coaching staff Thanks for taking the time to view this advert; we’re looking forward to receiving your application.
