Robert Walpole & Partners (RWP) are looking for Civil Engineers to work on a range of railway drainage projects, including tracked earthworks, drainage systems, embankment stabilisation, culverts, soakaways, and associated civil works. You will be involved in the optioneering, design, planning, and execution of these projects, collaborating closely with contractors, railway operators, and multidisciplinary teams.Location Slough (initially full-time), transitioning to hybrid work across Slough, client offices in Basingstoke, and remote working. SuitabilityNon-Chartered Engineers(who are looking to progress towards CEng status and take on more responsibility). Chartered Engineers(who can lead projects and mentor junior staff). Key ResponsibilitiesDrainage Design & DeliveryUndertake the design of railway drainage systems and associated minor civils works.Project ManagementSupport/manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget.Hybrid WorkingInitially based in Slough full-time, transitioning to working part-time in Basingstoke (client office), Slough and remote working after an initial period.Technical CollaborationWork with in-house engineers, external consultants, and clients to deliver effective solutions.Site Visits & InspectionsConduct regular site visits to oversee works and ensure compliance with engineering standards.Quality AssuranceImplement quality control procedures and ensure all work meets industry regulations.Mentorship & GrowthChartered engineers will mentor junior engineers and have opportunities to develop their own team.Qualifications & Skills RequiredEssential:Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent industry experience) in Civil Engineering or a related field. Experience in drainage design (railway drainage preferred but transferable skills from highways/water accepted). Willingness to obtain PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification if not already held. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to conduct regular site visits. Driving licence and car.Desirable (but not essential):Experience in AutoCAD and MicroStation. Experience in Micro Drainage. Experience working on Network Rail or London Underground projects.
