We help students discover how amazing healthcare careers can be through hands-on experiments and demonstrations that make science come alive.We currently reach 260 schools every year with our proven approach. We use specially trained freelancers (mostly science graduates) and carefully designed workshop kits to create memorable experiences that inspire students to consider becoming doctors, nurses, or medical researchers.We're growing fast and need someone brilliant to take charge of all our operations as we expand to 300+ schools and launch exciting new programs.What This Job Really InvolvesThis is a vital role where you'll be in charge of everything that makes Medical Mavericks tick. You'll work directly with our founder Tom and have real power to make decisions that shape how we grow as you develop in this role.Manage a large team of freelancers across the UK - recruit from universities, train them properly, stay in daily contact for photos and reports, and maintain high quality standardsCoordinate complex logistics - plan how our 6 equipment sets move between 260+ schools, create efficient schedules with drivers and freelancers, and handle emergencies when things go wrongMake smart financial decisions - cut costs by strategically placing freelancers, prepare weekly payment reports, and help plan budgets for expanding to new regionsLaunch and scale after-school clubs - manage everything after schools sign up (assemblies, flyers, bookings), work with our web team, and build systems to reach 90 schools per regionOrganise MedicFest summit events - find and book venues, coordinate all logistics, and scale from 6 to 10-14 events per year across different regionsSupport business growth decisions - help Tom decide on new bookings based on capacity, provide insights that affect revenue, and contribute to strategic planningBuild and lead a growing team - as we expand, you'll have opportunities to hire and manage other people, developing your leadership skills along the wayWhat We Need From YouExperience That Matters:Operations Management: You've managed complex operations before, ideally involving field teams, multiple locations, or service delivery across regions. Experience in education, events, or similar people-focused industries is valuable.Team Logistics: Ideally, you've recruited, trained, and managed teams, especially in situations where you need to influence people without being their direct boss. You know how to build trust easily and are likeable.Money Management: You've handled budgets, know how to optimise costs and contribute to financial planning. You understand how operational decisions affect profits.Systems Thinking: You naturally think about how to improve processes. You've designed procedures, created documentation, and built quality control systems.Skills We're Looking ForCommunication: You can talk to anyone professionally - from headteachers to university students to venue managers.
