Service Care Legal are working alongside a social housing provider who are looking to recruit a highly capable Housing Solicitor or Legal Executive to join their in-house legal team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-structured, respected organisation that manages a substantial portfolio of homes across London and the surrounding regions. You will be joining a busy and experienced legal department where your expertise will be instrumental in supporting tenancy and leasehold management through a wide range of housing litigation matters.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a high-volume litigation caseload including:Possession claims arising from rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, and other breachesDefence of disrepair claimsLeasehold disputes including service charge mattersDraft court claim forms, statements of case, defences, applications, and supporting evidenceConduct advocacy in County Court, Magistrates' Court, and Residential Property Tribunals on routine mattersInstruct external counsel and experts on complex or high-value casesNegotiate settlements, quantify damages and compensation, and agree costsCandidate RequirementsAdmitted as a Solicitor in England & Wales or a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX)Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in housing lawSolid experience acting on behalf of social landlords or tenants within private practice, local government, or in-house legal teamsThorough knowledge of housing and leasehold legislation, litigation procedure, and relevant case lawProven ability to manage a large and complex caseload independently, including anti-social behaviour cases, disrepair claims, and breach of tenancy proceedings
