We’re looking for someone who’s not only passionate about food but whoknows the ins and outs of M&S, Waitrose, and Tesco technical systems and expectations . You'll play a critical role in ensuring products are safe, compliant, and customer-ready—every time. What You’ll Be Doing This is a dynamic role where technical rigour meets creative development. Key responsibilities include: Leading thespecification writing process , with a strong focus onM&S, Tesco, and Waitrose systems and formats Managing technical data and documentation forretailer portals , including Allergen Risk Assessments, HACCPs, and Quality Contracts SupportingNPD projectsfrom concept through to launch, ensuring food safety, legality, and manufacturability Conductingshelf-life testing, supplier audits, and quality panels Staying up to date withUK/EU food legislationand evolving retailer technical requirements Handlingtechnical queriesfrom internal teams, suppliers, and retailers What You’ll Bring A degree inFood Science, Food Technology , or a related field Minimum 2 years’ experiencein a food industry technical, quality, or NPD role – this is a brilliant opportunity to step into a role with more responsibility Proven experience inwriting specifications and managing technical documentation for M&S, Tesco, and Waitrose Strong understanding ofretailer portals and compliance systems(e.g., M&S Find, Tesco TQC, Waitrose Fusion) Working knowledge ofHACCP, food labelling regulations, allergen management , and UK/EU legislation Excellent organisation, communication, and project coordination skills Attention to detail, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset A confident spec writer who cannavigate retailer platforms with ease Analytical, precise, and passionate about getting the technical detail right Curious, self-motivated, and eager to improve and innovate A natural collaborator who can work cross-functionally and build strong relationships What’s In It For You Competitive salary withannual reviews Bonus schemelinked to company and individual performance Flexible hybrid workingto support your lifestyle 25 days holiday (rising to 30 with service) Healthcare cash planandpension scheme Commitment to yourprofessional growthand development Regular social eventsand a vibrant, people-first company culture If you're confident with retailer systems, driven by detail, and ready to make your mark in food innovation — this is your next big step.
