Service & operational management · To ensure that all activity undertaken is consistent with maintaining registration of the premises with The General Pharmaceutical Council. · Provide excellent customer service and be polite and courteous in dealings with customers, patients and other persons with whom you come into contact with throughout your working day. · To ensure the Medicines (Pharmacies) (Responsible Pharmacist) Regulations 2008 are adhered to at all times and ensure that the ‘Pharmacy Record’ is maintained at all times. · To act as Responsible Pharmacist when required. · Clinically screening prescriptions to ensure safe, optimal and cost effective use of medicines in accordance with the UHDB medicines formulary & the Derbyshire CCG traffic light classification. Ensure all prescriptions are legal, endorsed, counted and dispensed accurately according to local procedures and protocols. · Accuracy check dispensed prescriptions accurately in line with local standard operating procedures. · Record and investigate dispensing errors and near misses and take appropriate action to minimise further risk or incidents. · To maintain standards of safety, tidiness and cleanliness within the department in accordance with COSHH and Health and Safety regulations. To ensure all working practices and Standard Operating Procedures are followed including topping up of sundries, temperature monitoring, archiving of prescriptions and waste destruction. Staff management, training and development Staff management, training and development · To keep up to date with relevant clinical and professional knowledge, contribute and participate in education and training events for pharmacy staff. · Take personal responsibility to undertake continuing professional development and revalidation in line with GPhC requirements · To participate in performance development reviews for Pride Pharmacy staff working area of responsibility. To develop training plans and ensure that staff development needs are met. · Train and support new and junior staff (including pre-registration pharmacists & technicians) effectively to develop capability and drive operational excellence. · To partake in general pharmacy duties including full participation in 7 day shift working and bank holiday rosters as required. In addition the post holder will take part in a system of flexible shifts to facilitate Pride Pharmacy LTD operational times and service needs. Management of Controlled Drugs · To ensure that the principles outlined in the DH publication ‘The Safer Management of Controlled Drugs’ (CDs) are adhered to all times. · Ensure the day-to-day safe and appropriate management of CDs in the pharmacy. Legal responsibility for CDs whilst acting as RP will remain with the Responsible Pharmacist. · Ensure the safe management of CDs such as ordering, receipt, record-keeping are developed and maintained whilst acting as RP. Education · Registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council · A degree in Pharmacy · A proven commitment to continued professional development · Two years post registration experience (desirable but not essential) · Accredited for locally commissioned enhanced services e.g. EHC, Minor Ailments, health checks and running extended services (desirable not essential) · Post graduate qualification such as a Clinical Pharmacy diploma is desirable Skills and abilities · Analytical and judgement skills required to deal with day to day problems of medicine supply including understanding of when to act within departmental guidelines and when to refer problems to senior staff. · Able to work in a commercial environment while maintaining safe standards. · Ability to deal with difficult and sensitive issues in a supportive and professional manner to effect positive outcomes · Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and targets.
