Main duties of the jobThe post holder is responsible for carrying out assigned tasks as part of the clinical team in support of registered nurses, and to undertake some aspects of care provision without direct supervision. Job responsibilitiesUndertake a range of delegated duties to deliver agreed plans of care under the supervision of trained staff Provide excellent customer care skills to ensure patients come first To ensure patients receive high quality care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individuals To act as an advocate for patients within the department, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care Provides support and assistance to professionals in the implementation of plans of care for individual patients Report any abnormalities and concerns to a registered nurse Recognise when patients are in pain and discomfort and report to the nurse in charge Provide reassurance and support to patients, carers and family Ensure own actions help to maintain quality To respond to patient requests for non-clinical information to improve communication Establish and maintain communication with people on routine and operational matters To act always in a manner which promotes positive working relationships and maintains the professional image of the Trust Understand and adhere to all Trust policies, guidelines and procedures. In particular, Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Waste Management and Resuscitation policies to maintain a safe working environment for patients and staff Person SpecificationQualificationsFunctional Skills Level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy or GCSEs NVQ 3 in Healthcare / QCF Diploma in Health Level 3/ equivalent experience or a willingness to undertake course/competences within a specified time frame Care Certificate KnowledgeUnderstanding of the requirements of patient confidentiality Good hygiene skills (e.g. handwashing etc.) understanding of infection control procedures Knowledge of hospital systems ExperienceCustomer Care Experience Experience of working on own and in a team Previous experience of working as a healthcare assistant in a hospital or registered care setting SkillsAbility to follow a clear instruction and feed back to senior staff Manual handling of patients, using lifting aids Completed core skills competencies Ability to project a professional manner and approach Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. £24,937 to £26,598 a yearper annum/pro rata#J-18808-Ljbffr
