They are responsible for the co-ordination of clinical governance procedures and frameworks with the Maternity Directorate. Main duties of the jobThe post holder will manage the clinical governance team in the further development of robust systems and processes throughout the Directorate in relation to clinical governance and quality, which underpins safe clinical practice. The role encompasses risk management, clinical audit and clinicaleffectivenessprogrammes.Thepostholderwillprovideleadership,guidanceandexpertise within the wider multi-professional team for Maternity Directorate for clinical governance and risk management.This will include putting in place strategies and framework that ensure the Maternity service meets the Trust and Nationally required standards. Working for our organisationHere in Oxfordshire, we offer a unique set up of our Maternity Services with around 7500 babies born annually. We have 4 stand-alone Midwifery-Led Birth units within the county. These are based at Banbury, Chipping Norton, Wantage and Wallingford and we also offer home births to all areas. There is also an integrated Midwifery-Led birth unit, where around 10% of women and birthing people choose to go in labour. As a tertiary hospital, the John Radcliffe is composed of a Delivery Suite with 3 Maternity Theatres and a specific Maternity Recovery Ward. We work closely with specialist services such as the Fetal and Maternal Medicine Unit, Breech Team, and Maternity Bereavement Teams. Midwives employed within the service have the opportunity to rotate to all our units/departments providing care to both low and high risk women. For those working with us, we have a substantial support network for staff, focusing on wellbeing and development. This includes a team of professional Midwifery Advocates, Wellbeing Champion s, staff networks and a staff Maternity Psychologist. You will be supported by the Practice Development Team who provide regular study days and updates and support staff clinically. Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThe overall focus of the post is the continuing development of a seamless clinical governance and risk management strategy which fosters multidisciplinary working across the directorate. To act as a specialist in the field of risk within the maternity and ensure the national recommendations from MBRRACE-UK Mothers and Babies: Reducing Risk through Audits and Confidential Enquires across the UK (MBRRACE), National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and NHS England guidance. To oversee the completion of the Perinatal Mortality Review Tool. The post holder will support staff within the directorate to deliver high quality services to women and their families. Person specificationQualificationsRegistered Midwife Education to a masters level or equivalent PSIRF Learning Response Training or equivalent Quality Improvement (QI) and /or Project management qualification Experience, skills and abilityManagement experience in a senior role Up to date knowledge of Clinical Governance framework.
