Job Title: Carbon Finance Manager Location: Singapore, Kigali or London Reports To: Chief Financial Officer The DelAgua Group of companies design and implement major carbon development projects. Our purpose is Transforming Lives and Nature through Enterprise. The company was founded at the University of Surrey in 1985, developing the first DelAgua water testing kit in conjunction with Oxfam. DelAgua has now distributed over 1.7m stoves in Rwanda, The Gambia and Sierra Leone with a further 250,000 currently being distributed. We have expanded considerably over the past few years and are now looking at taking the business to the next level. The role is new and will be one of two hires in DelAgua’s newly created Carbon Finance team, presenting an opportunity for the successful candidate to be a key contributor to DelAgua’s future. The key responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to manage the internal and external models and assist with negotiating investment agreements. The successful candidate will need to be able to assist sourcing new financing, support the senior management team in making commercial and investment decisions and be a very capable modeler. As well as technical skills, the candidate will need to be a good cultural fit within the DelAgua team. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and/or review all models prepared at DelAgua and interrogate the assumptions. Assess various financing structures. Source and liaise with potential new financiers. Assist with negotiating and closing on investment agreements. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to inform strategic decisions. Consolidate various inputs from a variety of workstreams into strategy, financial models and commercial decisions. Review other (non-investment) agreements Evaluate tax structuring implications in regards to commercial arrangements. Preparation of periodic reporting packages for investors. Monitor carbon market trends, pricing, and regulations to guide investment decisions. Other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities: Required: At least 4 years of experience in a financial role (e.g. investment manager, private equity, venture capital, Big 4, other Carbon Project Developer). Excellent command of Excel. Experience with different forms of financing (debt, equity, hybrid) Experience in reviewing investment and commercial agreements. Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English. Minimum 2:1 bachelor’s degree (or equivalent). Highly motivated, energetic self-starter who takes ownership and works independently. Preferred: A background in the carbon markets. French and/or Portuguese language skills will be beneficial. Ability to analyse and understand financial accounts (no formal accounting experience required). The successful applicant will either be based in our Singapore or Kigali offices; for the right candidate, DelAgua will consider an applicant based in London or Lisbon. The successful applicant will be expected to travel to Africa and/or conferences in Europe and/or Asia on occasion; in addition, the successful applicant is encouraged to temporarily spend an extended period in our operating markets (if not based in Kigali).
