We need you to be a specialist in treating patients with Trauma & Orthopaedic presentations using advanced knowledge 'skills.You will be an integral part of the team responsible for the delivery of therapy to patients admitted for conservative and surgical management. You will need to demonstrate clinical expertise in both the acute and rehab stages of treatment for Trauma & Orthopaedic presentations.As team lead you will coordinate the day to day running of the team and have operational and supervisory responsibilities to ensure the team runs efficiently and effectively.You will work with other members of the MDT and community partners to make meaningful improvements to our service, ensuring national guidelines and standards are being met to provide optimum treatment for the patients in this cohort and ensure a timely discharge process.As a skilled & passionate educator, you will support the service to develop the next generation of physiotherapists. Using advanced knowledge 'skills to deliver theory and practical based training to support staff to deliver outstanding & compassionate treatment to patients within this specialism.You will receive regular supervision & dedicated support to enable you to meet the responsibilities of the role and we will actively support your professional and clinical development.The role has weekend & on call commitments on a rota basis.To be responsible for the clinical management of the therapy provision across the Orthopaedic and Surgical Wards, having clinical expertise in both the acute management and rehabilitation of surgical and non-surgical T&O patients.To undertake the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have complex and/or chronic presentations, and to determine clinical diagnosis and the physiotherapy treatment indicated, managing a caseload as an autonomous practitioner.To be the Physiotherapy Representative at the Orthopaedic Trauma meetings, delegating responsibility when unable to attend.To support the repatriation and treatment of patients referred from Major Trauma Centres.To work proactively with the MDT to ensure that all patients have a planned date of discharge and that the required actions by therapy staff to facilitate discharge across all Pathways are enacted in a timely manner.To be responsible for the day-to-day provision of therapy across designated work areas, ensuring appropriate case prioritisation, and management of cases considering the skill mix of the team.
