Job DescriptionAtkinsRéalis has one of the Rail industry’s largest signalling engineering teams. You will be joining an AtkinsRéalis Telecoms discipline. This, together with AtkinsRéalis' broader cross-discipline capability, means engineers have an unrivalled collective knowledge to tap into and learn from. Your Purpose: We are currently recruiting for a Telecoms Site Engineer to become a key member of the team, capable of delivering and managing all aspects of Telecoms installations and contract management within the Rail sector. Operational Communications installation including but not limited to: FTN, FTNx & Legacy installation experience. Installation of fibre & Copper cabling systems. VOIP Installation. CAT5 & 6 Installations. Disconnection and At-Risk Management. Telephony – Lineside SPT, PZT, ETD and Direct Line. Our Telecoms group has a proven record in project delivery from large to small multi/single discipline projects, providing engineering support and assurance on regional and national rail frameworks throughout the UK and NI. What you can bring: As part of your role, you will be responsible for: Ensuring tasks are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. Assisting in detailed project planning. Ensuring design, materials, and plant are available and inspected. Accurately recording daily progress and reporting variances. Ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, proposing improvements as needed. Managing and coordinating drawings and plans, interfacing with design and engineering teams to resolve issues. Maintaining configuration control and supporting change documentation. Monitoring technical requirements, including contractor quality assurance and adherence to plans. Contributing to change control logs and supporting change management. Supporting project schedules and advising on risks. Cooperating with safety, quality, and environmental objectives, and supporting continuous improvement. Conducting safety and quality inspections and implementing improvement plans. Building effective relationships with staff, subcontractors, and project teams. Reviewing and approving subcontractor work per Inspection and Test Plans. Supporting design change resolution and constructability reviews. Providing installation documents to CRE. Installing and splicing optical fibre. Terminating lineside copper cable. Installing telecom equipment and racks. Deploying and testing IP networks. Interpreting and implementing technical designs, familiar with TENE standards. Coaching and mentoring junior staff. Essential Attributes, Skills & Qualifications: Relevant trade/construction experience. Driving Licence. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Project safety management experience. Knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental procedures. Basic IT skills for document management. Copper cabling installation, termination, and testing. Telecoms equipment installation. FTN/x installation experience. City & Guilds 3668 External Fibre Optic Jointing and Testing. OLEC 1 qualification. PTS (AC & DCCR). Desirable Attributes, Skills & Qualifications: Understanding of IP network deployment. COSS qualification. IRSE 2.2.110v6 Telecoms installer qualification.
