Salary: Competitive rate - outside of scope of IR35 Job Reference: JOB-89968 Published: 24-07-2025 Duration: 12 months Expiry Date: 21-08-2025 Country: United Kingdom Principal EICA Engineer Contract - Outside of scope of IR35Location:Manchester Hybrid:2–3 days per week in the officeDuration:12 monthsWe’re supporting the delivery of major water infrastructure programmes and are looking for aPrincipal Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA) Engineerto join a high-performing design team based in Manchester. This role involves leading or supporting the delivery of multidisciplinary design across water sector frameworks, with a focus on electrical and control solutions that are practical, efficient, and compliant. The RoleLead the production of electrical, instrumentation, and control design documentation in accordance with project specifications and budgets Develop outline and detailed EICA designs for both new and existing water infrastructure Prepare and review specifications, data sheets, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations Conduct site surveys, support installation planning, and attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) at supplier facilities Ensure subcontractor designs meet technical and quality standards Produce installation scopes of work and support commissioning where required Allocate work within the EICA discipline and ensure delivery aligns with project schedules and expectations Ensure compliance with UK legislation, WIMES, ATEX, CE marking, and relevant directives (LVD, PED, EMC, Machinery) Contribute to HV design and provide support during site construction and commissioning activities What You’ll BringDegree inElectrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering ; apprenticeship routes considered Chartered or Incorporated Engineerstatus (or working towards) with a relevant professional body 15+ years of engineering experience, ideally in thewater sectoror similar regulated environments In-depth knowledge ofUK design standards ,WIMES , and installation requirements Understanding ofhazardous area design , CE marking regulations, and industry directives Strong communication and coordination skills across disciplines, clients, and supply chain Experience delivering practical, buildable solutions with a focus on safety and long-term asset performance This is a key role offering the opportunity to lead critical infrastructure design within the UK water sector.
