Do you have a passion for mechanical engineering and a desire to shape the future of water infrastructure?We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic MEICA team. In this pivotal client-side role, you'll provide corporate administration and technical leadership to our mechanical engineers, ensuring our designs are at the forefront of best practice, compliant with all standards, and evolve with new technologies. You'll oversee resource allocation, tackle complex mechanical queries, and play a crucial role in delivering capital engineering schemes from inception through to commissioning.You'll be instrumental in every stage of project delivery, contributing to technical deliverables and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project success. This role demands excellent self-management, the ability to prioritise both your own and your team's workload, and a steadfast commitment to Health and Safety/CDM requirements.Building strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including our framework contracting partners, is key. You'll also represent South East Water at industry working groups, further solidifying our commitment to excellence and innovation. Join us and make a tangible impact on the provision of essential water services.Although this role offers flexible/hybrid working (office/home), you will be expected to attend the South East Water Head Office in Snodland on a regular basis, and be able to travel to any location within our supply areas, as required, as part of the project(s) you or your team are working on e.g. pre-construction and construction phase elements such as scoping or Contractor progress/design review meetings. Main Responsibilities: Development of technical solutions and coordinating work with multi-disciplinary teams {Process, Civil and Mechanical) Production of technical reports and the ability to work independently and as a team member to carry out checking, reviews and approval of complex electrical detailed designs, to include calculations, specifications, reports and drawings. Analysis of options and selection of technical solutions as appropriate Development of outline scheme designs Ensuring contractors designs comply with the latest company specifications and other relevant industry specifications (Wimes, IET wiring regulations etc.) and legislations. Assistance in preparation of scheme programmes, estimates and tender documentation Acting as a deputy authorising engineering, under south east waters Mechanical Technical Memorandum Construction supervision for small projects Undertake designers responsibilities under the most appropriate Health and Safety Legislation under direction set out by the Discipline Lead. On-site inspection of works and surveys in accordance with standards and specifications and on site testing and commissioning. Design delivery under NEC Design & Construct and PSC contracts, and input into these contracts Participation in HAZOP/ALM studies and risk review meetings You'll need -Qualifications: Degree qualified in mechanical engineering or equivalent industry experience. Chartered engineer (or working towards) Skills: Ability to work closely with others and communicate effectively. Ability to give technical guidance, work under pressure, and progress work within budget and deadline constraints. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. Influential with leadership capability and good supervisory skills. Good technical report writing and editorial skills, and good oral communication. Ability to develop and mentor junior staff. Engaged in continual professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technologies in the field. Competent IT skills and ability to pick up new systems & processes. Full & clean UK driving licence. Experience: Design and specifications for clean/potable water related projects, including treatment plant, pumped systems and pipework, chemical dosing, mixing. Design of hydraulic systems including pump sizing 'selection, head loss calculations 'system curves, air valve design practices and implications/requirements of surge within a system. Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems including pressure/flow/level and analytical instrumentation e.g. chlorine, turbidity, pH instrumentation and control. Building Engineering Physics and building services – heat, ventilation, noise, moisture. Interfacing with other disciplines and integration of those requirements with mechanical design. Review of Contractor produced designs & deliverables in accordance with legislation, standards and specifications, and response to Technical Queries. Project delivery under NEC3 Design and Construct and PSC contracts. Providing technical guidance to project teams and Mechanical Engineers that report to you, as well as technical stakeholder engagement. It will be a bonus if you have - Experience: You will ideally have gained substantial experience in the water industry in the UK or within the broader utilities, process and manufacturing sectors. It will be advantageous to have knowledge of water treatment processes and control philosophies, as well as awareness of industry standards (WIMES and British Standards).#J-18808-Ljbffr
