Redefining hospice care: St Columba's exists to give everyone who needs it the very best hospice care. We're an independent charity at the heart of our local community, offering free, flexible and person-centred palliative care and support to our patients and their families. We currently have the following opportunity to join the Hospice team: Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine (Maternity Cover) £64,158 - £99,975 WTE pro rata, per annum (based on 40 hours per week) + additional on call supplements Available from end November 2025 Applications are invited for a 9.5 PA fixed term specialty doctor post, to cover maternity leave, which is available from the end of November 2025. You will work for 4 weekdays (9-5), with some late weekday finishes (6pm) and work at weekends (currently 1 in 10 Saturday/Sundays 9am-3pm) covering the inpatient unit and the virtual ward. You will also participate in the first on call rota, with additional weekend on call (up to 3 weekends per year) and some overnight weeknight on call (currently one night every 5 weeks). You will bring enthusiasm, excellent communication skills and teamworking abilities to the wider multidisciplinary clinical team. You will be largely inpatient based initially, but work in the community setting is possible later, depending on needs and experience. Experience in Palliative Medicine is desirable but not essential and applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council, with a current licence to practise.
