We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated dietitian who currently works in paediatrics or has an interest in paediatric dietetics and is looking for an opportunity to develop their skills in this area to join our friendly team. You will provide care to children both as inpatients and outpatients across the Trust, under the care of the Paediatric Directorate, as well as outpatients referred by their GP. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in general paediatrics, Diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis, Neonatology, Nutritional Support and Food Allergy/Intolerance. We use electronic records. Whilst an experience of working in Paediatric Dietetics or Diabetes is desirable, it is not essential. However some experience of working with children will be an advantage. You should have excellent interpersonal and time management skills together with an ability to be flexible and a commitment to teamwork. The post holder will participate in student training and be joining a large supportive dietetic department who work holistically with medical, nursing and therapy colleagues. Interview date: 27 August 2025 Main duties of the jobThis post provides an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of paediatric dietetics. You will manage your own caseload and provide care to children both as inpatients and outpatients. There is the opportunity to gain experience in general paediatrics, Diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis, Neonatology, Nutritional Support and Food Allergy/Intolerance with clinical supervision and training provided. Paediatric Dietitians are an integral and valued part of the multi disciplinary team and you will work closely with all members, contributing to ward rounds, clinics and team meetings as appropriate. You will contribute to training of student dietitians on placements. This post is based at Heartlands Hospital but may involve travel to Solihull and Good Hope Hospitals. Job responsibilities*Please Note : For a detailed job description for this vacancy, please see attached Job Description* Person SpecificationQualifications*Current registration with Health and Care Professions Council. *Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C /5 and above. *Evidence of CPD relevant to clinical speciality. *Evidence of leadership training. *Attendance at Clinical Educators Course. Experience*Demonstrates relevant clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients in this speciality. *Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and dietetic team. *Demonstrates an awareness of local needs, e.g. ethnic minority and low income groups. *Understanding of current legislation and application to Dietetics. *Experience of working with children and young people *Experience of working in paediatric dietetics *Experience of working in diabetes *Experience of supporting and supervision of junior staff, students. *Good presentation skills and teaching skills with evidence of presentations to groups Additional Criteria*Excellent interpersonal skills -- including observation, listening and empathy skills *Able to adapt communication style to one to one and in groups including working through interpreters *Excellent written and verbal communication skills including an ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and contentious information. *An ability to prioritise and organise own workload. *An ability to cope with a range of complex options, finds solutions, analyse, compare and decide on appropriate course of action. . *An ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and form good working relationships *Able to judge limits of skills/competence and recognise professional boundaries where appropriate *Supportive to other staff including Enthusiasm and commitment to train student dietitians and others. *IT skills -- computer literate in email, Word & PowerPoint *Demonstrate enthusiasm for the specialist area and interest in developing expertise within this area *Demonstrate a professional attitude. *An ability to cope with occasional exposure to distressing/emotional situations. *Able to contribute to bank holiday / 7 day working as required. *Able to meet the travel requirements of the post i.e. where off site travel is required e.g. for home visits, frequent travel between sites.
