Apprentice Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician - Venture HouseWe are seeking four Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians to join the Pharmacy services within Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust. The positions are based at Central/Summerhill Pharmacy in Erdington, with rotations to HMP Birmingham, Winson Green, and Reaside Clinic in Rubery. These are full-time fixed-term contracts for 2 years.The salary for this training post is band 3. Benefits include 27 days of annual leave plus Bank Holidays. Normal working hours are 37.5 hours per week, with one late night per week (subject to change).The training will be conducted at Central/Summerhill Pharmacies, Reaside Clinic, and HMP Birmingham, with attendance at college one day per week. The program begins in September 2025, leading to a Level 3 diploma in the principles and practice for pharmacy technicians.The successful candidates will work within mental health, prison, and secure care services, gaining experience in dispensing prescriptions, stores, procurement, and medicines optimisation.Applicants must meet all essential criteria listed in the person specification. You will work alongside pharmacy professionals and will be supported to demonstrate competencies in dispensary, stores, procurement, and ward-based activities such as stock management, medication ordering, and medicines reconciliation.Pharmacy Technicians are key members of the healthcare team, contributing significantly to medicine supply and management. The role is increasingly complex, with career opportunities in medicines management, manufacturing, quality control, training, IT, procurement, clinical trials, and medicines information services.You will study to achieve the BTEC Level 3 diploma in the principles and practice for pharmacy technicians, enabling registration to practice.
