We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and flexible Paediatric Physiotherapist to join our Children's Integrated Therapy team to provide a service to children in Greenwich between the ages of 0-19 in our School Years Team. You will need excellent standards of time management, team working and highly developed interpersonal skills. You will be working with children with a range of needs across schools in Greenwich, clinics, other educational settings and homes as appropriate. In partnership with senior management you will be responsible for the supervision and clinical support for the wider team of Band 6 physiotherapists and Band 4 therapy technicians. You will demonstrate creative thinking and will work as part of the team. A range of Paediatric experience is required, with a focus in MSK and neuromuscular conditions. You will work closely with the other senior Physiotherapists and multi professional agencies across the borough to meet the needs of children and families as part of the Children's Integrated therapy service. This post has clinical lead responsibilities including providing specialist training to the wider team and assisting the Head Physiotherapist in compiling the training needs for the service. To actively participate and lead on clinical and non-clinical band 7 additional roles to support the wider paediatric physiotherapy service. You will be part of the integrated therapy services, working collaboratively with your SLT and OT colleagues. Main duties of the jobTo perform a Highly Specialist children's physiotherapist role in the community, to children with disabilities. To independently manage a defined caseload of complex cases with evidence of an excellent level of problem solving, reasoning skills and judgement. To write detailed reports and programmes reflecting extensive highly specialist knowledge for multiple purposes. To provide appropriate highly specialist intervention and evaluate outcomes. To provide highly specialist advice to others regarding the management and care of CYP with physical disabilities. To monitor, evaluate and modify intervention using evidence based practice and outcome measures, to ensure the effectiveness of case management. To provide education and training for parents, carers, within education and in the implementation of activity programmes. To demonstrate highly specialist knowledge and assessment skills around the provision of specialist equipment to improve comfort, maintain function and enable participation. To liaise and negotiate with the wider MDT as appropriate, to facilitate effective case management. To demonstrate a high level of clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and to provide an assessment of a CYP's physical disability using recognised standard assessment tools and expert knowledge. To lead on departmental service innovations and initiatives, including audit/Quality improvement projects. To assess the functional needs of CYP in order to develop and implement Highly Specialist Childrens Physiotherapy treatment and intervention. To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own professional activities. To independently manage a defined caseload of complex cases with evidence of an excellent level of problem solving, reasoning skills and judgement. To write detailed reports and programmes reflecting extensive highly specialist knowledge for multiple purposes including physiotherapy management; medical reports; reports for child protection conferences; specialist time bound special educational needs reports and legal reports. To provide appropriate highly specialist intervention and evaluate outcomes. To provide highly specialist advice to others regarding the management and care of CYP with physical disabilities: development, posture, movement, participation and/or coordination difficulties. To demonstrate good negotiation skills across a range of issues. To ensure that patients and carers are involved in the planning and prioritisation of care. To monitor, evaluate and modify intervention using evidence based practice and outcome measures, to ensure the effectiveness of case management. To provide education and training for parents, carers, early years and education in the implementation of activity programmes. To demonstrate highly specialist knowledge and assessment skills around the provision of specialist equipment to improve comfort, maintain function and enable participation e.g. standing frames, walkers, special seating and orthoses. To provide highly specialist and expert advice to other team members with regard to specialist interventions such as equipment, orthoses etc. To negotiate with others around case management in complex cases. To act according to individual patient circumstance, cultural differences and diversity. To liaise and negotiate with others, for example, Health Consultants, social workers, teachers, Education staff, G.P.s, as appropriate to facilitate effective case management. To demonstrate a high level of clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and to provide an assessment of a CYPs physical disability: developmental, posture, movement, orthopaedic and/or coordination difficulties using recognised standard assessment tools and expert knowledge. To demonstrate skills in dealing with complex issues to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management. To demonstrate highly developed visual, auditory, tactile and perceptual skills in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients/clients. To carry out highly developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients. To lead on departmental service innovations and initiatives, including audit/Quality improvement projects, that further improve client care in the context of an ever evolving clinical and financial landscape. Person SpecificationTraining and QualificationsPhysiotherapy Degree or equivalent HCPC Registration ExperienceRelevant experience at undergraduate/postgraduate level, 5 years minimum post registration Relevant highly specialist experience in paediatrics, post qualification equivalent to 2 years band 6 grade Experience working with school aged children and those with complex needs Experience working with children with developmental delay Experience working with common MSK complaints in children Experience of liaising with variety of agencies and disciplines. Experience of carrying out postural management assessments Experience working jointly with OT on seating assessment and prescription Working knowledge of the CPIP programme Experience of carrying out standardised assessments relevant to clinical practice Experience of supporting families with a complex diagnosis Specialist knowledge and experience in treating a range of neuromuscular conditions Experience in delivering Hydrotherapy with children Knowledge and ExperienceKnowledge of Physio processes, assessments and interventions relevant to clinical area Ability to work autonomously, set own priorities and manage time effectively Able to evidence some service / operational leadership experience.
