Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our established and busy practice for an experienced Part-Time Health Care Assistant to join our team at Pilgrims Way Surgery. The role is approximately 2 days per week, possibly including Mondays and Tuesdays. The role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients and assisting doctors and other healthcare team members. Main duties of the jobPhlebotomy is essential. The role may also include tasks such as ECG, ABPM, and wound care, depending on training. The HCA's responsibilities include delivering basic patient care, monitoring patient conditions, screening, and health prevention activities. They work collaboratively with general practitioners to assess, treat, educate, and care for patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly. Assessing and caring for patients with uncomplicated wounds. Taking urine and blood samples. Performing routine procedures such as BP, height, weight, wound treatment, and dressing changes. Providing advice or specialized information on blood pressure, heart conditions, smoking cessation, and weight management. Restocking and maintaining clinical areas. Recording accurate notes on patient consultations and treatments. Updating patient details and treatment information in the clinical computer system. About usWe are seeking a dedicated HCA to join our friendly, permanent team at Pilgrims Way Surgery, which includes GP partners, a salaried GP, a paramedic, a physician associate, practice nurses, and administrative staff. Our practice is a training site for medical students and ST1s/ST3s, providing an opportunity to work alongside medical trainees. Person SpecificationExperienceGCSE grade A-C in English and Maths. NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care. Phlebotomy training. Desirable skills and experience include immunizations, INR, ECGs, wound management, use of clinical IT systems, knowledge of information governance and clinical governance, handling sensitive information, and excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
