Senior Quantity Surveyor Galldris Group Location: Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Sizewell team. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering background. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures, minimising the costs of a project and enhancing value for money, while achieving the required standards and quality. The ideal candidate will have to hold a full UK driving licence. Key Accountabilities include: Analytical Thinking & Decision MakingOrders information and systematically checks data Maximises digital opportunitiesCost EngineeringPrepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documentsEstimatingCritically appraises, estimates, and negotiates with 3rd partiesPlanningReviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location Assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmesProject ManagementMonitors subcontract activities, measures and responds appropriately Analyses the commercial progress and reports to senior project staff Manages commercial aspects with Customers and Stakeholders for their area of responsibilityProcurementUndertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes Prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategyCommercial ManagementAnalyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and/or compensation events as required Undertakes customer and stakeholder management for their area of responsibility Prepares, submits, and negotiates claims when required. Prepares internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation Complies with Company proceduresExperience/Knowledge: Wide experience of civil engineering. Manage all commercial aspects of the project and be fluent in contract law and terminology High proficiency in operating the NEC3 Options A, B and C forms of contract Must be capable of producing robust Cost Plans and CVRs and presenting to regional managers/board Experience of managing a team Good knowledge of and adherence to the Company’s GMCEs, BMS and other governance Qualifications: Degree in Building Surveying or similar technical qualification (HND/HNC) Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Membership CSCS Card Skills: Ability to use a range of IT packages, Microsoft Office and bespoke packages Exceptional relationship building skills Self-motivated and proactive commercial awareness and understanding of the construction process Excellent communication skills, both oral & written Negotiation skills and ability to apply those skills internally, externally & with our supply chain Positive attitude at all times and the ability to integrate and play an active part in the Construction Team Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise to meet deadlines Interested applicants must be eligible to work legally in the UK.
