Elevation Recruitment Group is proud to be working exclusively with a well-established Derbyshire-based engineering business to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer.This organisation is a recognised leader in the design and delivery of specialist systems across the aerospace, energy, water, and industrial sectors.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the full design lifecycle — from concept through to detailed design. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and clients to deliver bespoke engineering solutions that meet technical, compliance, and performance standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign custom mechanical systems to meet client specifications and safety standardsDevelop 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawingsCarry out engineering calculations and participate in technical design reviewsCollaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and project teams to refine solutionsInterpret technical specifications and ensure compliance with relevant standardsSupport R&D initiatives, continuous improvement, and occasional site surveysProvide technical support and manage project deadlines effectivelyCandidate ProfileDegree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)Proven mechanical design experience, ideally involving fabricated assemblies or structuresStrong understanding of mechanical principles and design for manufactureProficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and engineering tools (Excel, Mathcad, PDM/PLM)Strong communication and technical report-writing skillsDesirable: Knowledge of structural codes, acoustics, noise control, and relevant regulatory standards (e.g. ATEX, CDM, Machinery Directive)Professional membership (IMechE, IOA) or working towards chartership is advantageousPackage and BenefitsWorking hours: 37.5 per week (Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm)25 days holiday plus bank holidays6% employer pension contributionHybrid working: 4 days office-based (Mon–Thurs), Friday work from homeWhy Join?You’ll be part of a collaborative and technically driven environment, contributing to complex and meaningful projects with real-world impact.
