Freelance Quantity SurveyorDay rate: £420/day (outside IR35)Hybrid working: 2–3 days per week in BarrowContract expected to run for 12 monthsImmediate or short-notice availability preferredWe are looking for an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support a major defence sector project based in Barrow-in-Furness. This is a 12-month contract role, operating outside IR35, and requires regular on-site attendance (2–3 days per week). The ideal candidate will bring strong NEC contract experience and be able to obtain UK Security Clearance.Key Responsibilities:Provide full commercial management on projects using the NEC suite of contractsMonitor, value, and manage subcontractor accountsPrepare and issue payment applications, cost reports, and financial forecastsAssist with contract administration, early warnings, and compensation eventsSupport client reporting and liaison with stakeholders across disciplinesEnsure compliance with all contractual, commercial, and regulatory requirementsContribute to cost control, procurement, and risk management activitiesRequirements:Demonstrable experience as a Quantity Surveyor on projects using NEC contractsPrevious work on defence or similarly regulated sectors (highly desirable)Eligible for or currently hold UK Security Clearance (SC level)Strong understanding of contract law, commercial management, and cost controlExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAble to work independently with minimal supervision
