This role supports the CERT team with reviewing insurance policies, assisting with claims assessments, and contributing to breach response efforts. Ideal for someone with early in-house or private practice experience who’s ready to grow into a broader commercial legal role.This role will provide review, assessment, advise and expertise in the management of the claims process to support CyberClan’s delivery of Incident Response projects, including analysis of claims and providing recommendation for resolution of those claims.We are seeking an experienced claims professional to join our team and lend a hand in handling intricate primary and excess Cyber, Tech, and Media policies and future Executive Risks as well as Management Professional Liability. You will also manage/collaborate with a variety of vendors, including breach counsel, defense counsel, and coverage counsel for its partner carriers.This role will also support breach response efforts, helping to manage the immediate impact of a security incident with timely, practical advice. The role involves close coordination with IT, legal, and other internal teams to ensure a swift and organized responseResponsibilities of Role:Handle the intake of severe cyber events, including the coordination with breach counsel, forensic investigators, and other vendorsEvaluate full pending of claims and recommend accurate reservesManage litigation including third party liability arising from security failure or data breaches, Media and Tech E&OMaintain accurate and timely file documentation/information in our claims systemAssess liability and damage data in affiliation with intricate claims, maintaining appropriate documentationAssess insurance coverage issuesIntelligently guide and track third-party vendors and service providersMaintain and develop relationships with brokers, risk managers, general counsel, and vendorsIdentify settlement opportunities to maximize impact and preserve limitsCollaborate in the defense and resolution of claimsProvide data and reason-based informational assistance to underwritersProvide assistance to business development team with regard to marketingLiaise with carriers on a daily basisServe as a member of a 24x7/365 service delivery team that handles incident response, postbreach remediation and escalationLiaise with external legal advisers and insurers as required, particularly during complex or high-value matters.Support contract negotiations by reviewing and advising on insurance and liability clauses.Research legal and regulatory developments related to insurance, data protection, money services business, new jurisdictions, legal risks, summarize findings for internal use.Draft and review standard contract clauses related to insurance and liabilityMaintain all legal records and ensure documentation is accurate and accessible.Monitor legal and regulatory developments in insurance, data protection, and risk to keep stakeholders informed.Support breach response and crisis management efforts by providing timely, practical legal input during security incidents.Assist in planning and delivering breach simulations and table-top exercises alongside internal teams.Collaborate with marketing and business development teams on external-facing initiatives, including client briefings, thought leadership, and industry events.Other duties as assignedRequirements/Must Haves:UK-qualified solicitor with 2+ post-qualification experience in insurance law (either in-house or in private practice).Proven experience advising on insurance claims and policy coverage.Working knowledge of the UK’s data protection laws, cyber insurance, and breach response practices.Ability to make sound legal judgments independently and communicate them clearly to non-legal stakeholders.Fluent in EnglishStrong coverage backgroundDemonstrated experience working as part of a team, leading a team, interacting with others, meeting goals, and successfully performing in a changing work environmentExcellent communication skills, interactive experience, and proactive mindsetTeam-oriented with an aptitude to excel in a collegial environmentAsset/Nice-to-Have:Previous in-house experience within a regulated sector.Experience acting as or working alongside breach coaches during cyber incidents.Familiarity with cross-border insurance or multinational policy frameworks.Job TypeFull-Time/ExemptLocation100% TelecommutingUp to 20% travelPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.CyberClan is an equal opportunity employer.
