We areseeking an enthusiastic and skilled Phlebotomist to compliment the role of the nurseand other Health Professionals and be an integral part and key member of careteam. You willmake the best use of clinical skills within the practice to promote well-beingand maximise health gain for patients and provide a safe, high quality andaccessible treatment room service to our registered patients. Main duties of the jobThe purpose ofthis role is to: Providea safe, high quality and accessible phlebotomy service to the practicepopulation. Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures toobtain blood samples from patients. Properly label, store, and prepare specimens forlaboratory testing and transportation. Verify patient identification and medical recordsbefore performing procedures. Educate patients on the blood draw process andanswer any questions. Maintain accurate records of patient interactionsand specimen collections. Follow infection control and safety protocols toensure a sterile environment. Manage supplies and restock phlebotomy equipment asneeded. Assist with clerical duties, such as schedulingappointments and updating patient records. Manageand organise individual patient consultations. Effectivelymanage own time, workload and resources. Preserveconfidentiality of information gained at all times. Educational: Identifypersonal development and training needs in conjunction with the Nurse Manager. Participatein an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility formaintaining a record of own personal and or professional development. Health andSafety: The post-holderwill assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safetyand security as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, to include: Usingpersonal security systems within the workplace according to practiceguidelines. Identifyingthe risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a waythat manages those risks. Makingeffective use of training to update knowledge and skills Usingappropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy andsafe way and free from hazards.
